Monica Day is a lifelong resident of Prince Georges County, Maryland and currently the Political Affairs Coordinator for the American Hospital Association. She believes that embracing your body is one of the most empowering aspects of life. Through her work with DC FemEx and the Miss Maryland and Washington DC Plus America 2013 and is currently Miss Maryland Plus America Ambassador 2015. Through her platform of Women’s Empowerment, she has worked to inspire wormen to fight against society’s notion of what is beautiful . One of her favorite quotes is “Cultivate your curves-they may be dangerous, but they won’t be avoided”-Mae West. This quote speaks to her belief that although our curves are not the norm, no one can deny the beauty of our bodies. In her charity work with DC FemEx she motivates women to accept their individuality and have a voice. She believes that we should all find ways to express our uniqueness. Modeling is her way of doing just that. It helps her to express all facets of who she truly is, glitz and glamour with a little bit of edginess. She is passionate about continuing her work of empowering more women to appreciate themselves and have a powerful voice.
